Specialist Chest Consultant for chronic cough, asthma, lung cancer and other respiratory conditions.
Dr Tim Chapman is a consultant respiratory physician based in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. He has specialist interests in cough, asthma, and lung cancer but investigates and treats all aspects of respiratory medicine. He has access to a complete range of investigations, including lung function testing, home sleep studies, bronchoscopy, Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS), ultrasound and CT scanning.
Dr Chapman provides private services out of the Spire Harpenden Hospital, and Pinehill Hospital in Hitchin. His NHS practice is at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, working out of Bedford hospital and Luton and Dunstable University Hospital. Dr Chapman holds several positions of seniority and leadership at the Bedfordshire Hospitals Trust. He is the Clinical Director for Respiratory Medicine across both sites, the Trust's Lead Clinician for Cancer, and is also the Lung Cancer Lead at Bedford Hospital. Dr Chapman works alongside a multidisciplinary team including physiotherapists, surgeons and oncologists to provide a complete holistic service for his patients.
"Patients come to see me with symptoms concerning them such as a persistent cough, breathlessness, chest discomfort or excessive daytime sleepiness.
A thorough assessment is undertaken and if necessary further tests are organised such as chest X-Ray or blood tests. Sometimes other investigations such as CT scan, bronchoscopy or sleep study are arranged to help provide a diagnosis for treatment."
